After 1960 most African countries were celebrating their independence.Unfortunately I have not seen any independent African state. Before you celebrate you must consider your situation before colonial powers and your so called period of independence, once you are restored to that position you were before your colonizers then you can celebrate independence or freedom. African people were self sufficient depending on themselves in everything and they were turned to be dependant .I will simply define the meaning of the word to find out if African countries are independent. The opposite of the word independent is dependant, it is either you are independent or dependant. It very clear that to be an independent country you need to be able to take care of yourself, if you cant take care of all your affairs and you need foreigners to survive then you are a dependant.
To be Independent means you depend in yourself for all you survival, you have enough capacity to provide for yourself. If you depend from outsiders then you are a dependant not independent. Children are normal called dependant because they do not rely within themselves to survive. If you cannot produce your own means of survival ,but depending on foreign help or donors then you are a dependant .When you are employed by someone and you are getting a salary every month, that does not mean you are independent because you are also under someone favour . If Africans depends in employment especially by colonial powers then we must ask ourself whether we are independent or dependant. Employment has never made anyone independent, if you are an employee then you are a dependant ,you are not in the driving seat of you life. Every employee is a dependant as his or her future is determined by someone else. If most Africans are employees then most Africans needs independent. We always worry about investors because we worry about employment.
Every creature was created independent ,not to depend on other creatures to survive,as you will never find a lion looking for employment from another lion. When you are looking for employment that means you have fallen far beyond an animal and you are a dependant. Our forefathers were not employees they were planting, having livestock building their own houses and have enough food for their families. It was the Europeans who came with this evil system of employment,which it is slavery for nowadays. For us to claim that we are independent we must consider our position before the colonial powers came to Africa. Africa was self sufficient having enough food ,everyone working for himself as all animals are hunting for themselves not hunting for other animals. They turn Africans to be dependant not able to work for ourselves by taking our land,cattles,chickens,sheep,goats,dogs,polluting our rivers and even destroying our seeds in fact they took everything that our forefathers owned in order that we will depend on them and became their slaves.How can we survive as African if we are not farming.We have adopted the stupid mind of looking for employment instead of farming for ourselves,we rather work for a white man in his farm than planting for ourselves.Some are even thinking that farming is old fashion and looking for employment is modern life yet that is slavery.
It is very disgusting to move around as Africans and boast that we have received independence yet we are dependant we own nothing. Everything that was taken from our fathers which resulted in us being dependant is still in the hands of colonial masters. The only thing we have is to vote every five years and few black people will then be in parliament and drive expensive cars, stay in expensive houses then we think we are independent. It was not voting rights that was stolen from our forefathers but LAND,CATTLES,GOATS,SHEEP,DOGS,CHICKENS AND MANY MORE ,all this has not been returned yet. TRUE INDEPENDENT WILL BE WHEN THE COLONIAL MASTERS RETURN EVERYTHING THEY HAVE TAKEN FROM AFRICA .Africans were able to feed themselves, today when you go to a supermarket you will find that everything in a supermarket is produced by the same colonial masters and Africans are just CONSUMERS.THERE IS NO OTHER WAY OF RESTORING INDEPENDANCE WITHOUT RESTORING LAND.EVERYTHING COME FROM THE LAND AND WITHOUT LAND YOU ARE JUST NOTHING BUT A DEPENDANT as Africans are.(we go underground and risk our lives to dig our minerals, then go up to give them to our masters who then sold them and make good profit, then give us peanuts(wages) just for us to have energy to go and dig again)and we still move around claiming we are independent yet our wealthy is still in the hands of colonial masters.(SHAME ON US WE ARE DEPENDANT NOT INDEPENDENT) |
